Leadership is not about titles or status—it’s about the choices we make, the kindness we show, and the impact we leave behind.
For me, leadership was never a straightforward path. I didn’t grow up with privilege or certainty. I grew up learning how to fight for what I believed in, how to advocate for those without a voice, and how to turn obstacles into stepping stones. My journey—one shaped by resilience, courage, and hope—has been about more than personal success. It has been about amplifying voices, creating change, and proving that no matter where you start, you can be something.
Born in Tuntable Falls, my early years were shaped by challenges that most people wouldn’t imagine. Navigating adversity taught me to lead with courage, empathy, and conviction. From finding my way through foster care, to becoming a young mother at 17, to stepping into leadership roles across community, disability services, sport, and politics, my story has always been one of choosing action over fear and kindness over judgment.
Through every challenge, I made the choice to keep going—to not just survive but to create meaningful impact. Leadership, for me, has never been about holding power. It’s about using my experiences to empower others.
Kindness as a Leadership Superpower
In a world where leadership is often associated with authority, I believe it’s time to shift the narrative. Kindness is not weakness; it’s a force that drives real change. It is through kindness that we build inclusive workplaces, stronger communities, and opportunities for those who need them most.
I have carried this philosophy into my roles as a CEO, Deputy Mayor/Councillor, Director, community advocate, and radio host. Whether it’s amplifying the voices of people with disabilities, pushing for change in local government, or cultivating inclusion in sport, every step I take is grounded in the belief that leadership is about lifting others.
At every stage of my career, my mission has remained the same: to create spaces where every person—regardless of background, ability, or circumstance—can thrive.
- As CEO of Tender Loving Care, I fight for meaningful employment and inclusion.
- As President of the Sutherland Shire Football Association, I advocate for equity in sport.
- As a Councillor and Deputy Mayor, I push for policies that create safer, stronger, and more connected communities.
- As a speaker and advocate, I share my story to inspire others to embrace leadership in their own way.
Join Me for “Amplify Women – You Can Be Something”
If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that leadership is a choice—one we make every single day. At my upcoming event, ‘Amplify Women You Can Be Something’ Women Leading with Courage, Kindness, Vision & Impact, I will be sharing more about my story, my lessons in leadership, and how we can all create meaningful change.
This isn’t just a speaker event—it’s a movement. A space where women from disability, sport, politics, media, business, and community leadership will come together to challenge barriers, share experiences, and inspire action.
Because when we amplify each other, we rise together.
