Who is Lara Nahkle

Lara Nakhle, a rising star with an impressive musical journey, was the perfect artist to kick off this inspiring series.
Lara Nakhle, a 25-year-old New Zealand-born Australian of Lebanese descent, discovered her passion for music at a very young age. Despite being born with Lebers Congenital Amaurosis, an eye condition that results in total blindness with some light perception, Lara’s musical talents have always shone brightly. She began playing the piano at the age of two, with singing soon following. Her determination and love for music have propelled her to remarkable heights.
Rising to Fame
Lara’s big break came in 2017 when she finished in the top 48 on “The Voice Australia” and joined Team SEAL. Since then, she has performed at numerous prestigious events, both nationally and internationally. Some highlights include her performances at the Invictus Games in Sydney in 2018, the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2019, the National Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony in Canberra on Australia Day in 2021, and as a Carols Ambassador at Carols by Candlelight in Melbourne in 2022 and 2023, and Ambassador for Tender Loving Care Disability Services.
Academic Achievements
Lara is not only a gifted musician but also a dedicated scholar. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and recently completed a Master’s in Creative Music Therapy, becoming a registered music therapist. Lara aims to use her expertise to help others achieve their goals and dreams, just as she has pursued her own.
Original Music and Recognition
With five original tracks and several covers under her belt, Lara’s most recent release, “New Day,” is an empowering and uplifting song inspired by her own experiences. Her music continues to inspire and motivate her listeners. In 2023, she was nominated for Blind Australian of the Year and is currently the face of the AAMI campaign across TV and cinema. Lara also lends her voice to the iconic “Lucky You’re With AAMI” jingle.
