What a journey! When I started my campaign to run for Council, NSW had just had a lockdown in the Northern Beaches, we were all looking forward to a year of going back to normal, my entire focus was on being agile, making smart decisions in my campaign with our community at the forefront of my mind.
Separated from our family, friends and work colleagues during what turned out to be a lengthy lockdown this year, with a real fear of the unknown, daily COVID-19 updates, home schooling, the future hard to plan for, and of course no hairdressers. COVID-19 has caused everyone’s lives to be changed for ever, we all now know what it means to be socially distanced, we are exhausted at the constant need to keep up with changes to rules, remembering our masks, worrying about vaccinations and our loved ones.
My experience with this year is that my resilience has been tested and passed. Honestly, I struggled at times, but reminding myself daily to focus on others, stay positive and keep going, is all we can ever do, and it works.
Running a campaign to reach 34,000 people during a lengthy lockdown was a challenge, conventional methods were not going to work, being agile was an understatement, what I live by is being respectful, responsive & transparent, I have had feedback that this was loud and clear in everything that I did over the past 9 months to attract your attention, build a brand that people trusted and wanted to vote for.
Thank you all for reading my letterbox information, putting up with my posters, asking me questions, responding to my social media posts, sharing your thoughts for our community and most importantly venturing out to vote in such an uncertain time. I will spend the next 3 years focussed and committed to being a strong voice for our community at Council, I look forward to building trust and demonstrating the values that you all deserve in your Council representative.
